DP Seals' Aaron Willis has won Best Level 2 NVQ Engineering Apprentice of the Year 2011. Paragon Skills, the largest independent training provider in the South of England, made the presentation during an awards ceremony at the Carrington House Hotel in Bournemouth.
DP Seals is one of the UK’s foremost suppliers of precision custom rubber seals and mouldings. Vital to the company’s global success in such markets as Formula 1, aerospace and defence is its in-house tool room; Aaron, 19, became an apprentice in the tool room on leaving school at 16.
At DP Seals, Aaron is an integral member of the total tool development process, taking initial designs supplied by clients through manufacture and out onto the shop floor. He has gained experience in many manual methods and in computer-controlled milling machines and vertical machining centres (VMCs). The award is based on independent assessment of class-work at Paragon Skills and on-the-job reports.
